Episode 104 – Ending Sexploitation Podcast
Haley McNamara (Executive Director and Chief Strategy Officer at NCOSE) talks about the latest news about Meta as the big tech company appears to be threatening to shut down service in New Mexico over the legal fight with the state’s Attorney General. She also talks about the recent change in the United Kingdom where Pornhub is apparently letting Apple users back on its platform. These are major developments that beg the question: Are big tech companies actually making improvements because of the legal and legislative roadblocks they are facing, or are they simply adapting to new strategies and continuing on as usual?

Lily Moric steps in to host the show this week, and she’s joined by Expert attorney and founder of the NCOSE Law Center, Benjamin Bull. They discuss legal strategies to combat the harms of pornography. In particular, Ben explores obscenity laws and what it would look like to enforce them in 2026. Under obscenity laws, much of Internet pornography would likely not be protected under the First Amendment and could be prosecuted. Enforcement of these laws has faded, but Benjamin Bull remains hopeful that it could be a winning strategy.

The U.S. government is considering an executive order that could severely limit each state’s ability to protect its residents, so Haley and Dani take a closer look at why this is a serious threat to safety – especially for kids. A.I. is developing at a rapid rate, and it’s essential that we don’t repeat the same mistakes we made when previous technological leaps were made. At the dawn of the internet, smart phones, and social media, protection for the most vulnerable was a low priority when compared to profit and innovation. We need to speak up now before lawmakers and Big Tech create another accountability shield like Section 230.
